Our story began in 1996 when Patrick Fournier, a fan of science-fiction, opened the first 100% laser game room in France, at rue Colonel-Dumont in Grenoble. Being a fan of paintball as a teenager, he wanted to develop a leisure activity by introducing an innovative concept.
At that time, Patrick Fournier did not have a great deal of means but had the potential. His friends were interested in the project and the father of one of them was an electronics engineer. Together, they developed the first version of the equipment in his garage (the V-1 generation) using recycled materials to make a 100% laser gun and a vest equipped with a meter, diodes and LEDs connected by straps. The equipment was basic but functional, just like the first centre where the maze was designed using recycled materials (tyres, cans, etc.).
Very soon it attracted customers and the V0 generation of the equipment was developed (gun and vest). However, the project came to a sudden halt when they had to close the premises for administrative reasons. Patrick Fournier found himself alone in this project.
Always motivated by the idea of making project a reality, he was full of energy and succeeded in finding a new, functional premises and obtained the required approvals. Players came forward: it was the very first 100% laser game room in France situated at rue Colonel-Dumont in Grenoble.
"LASER GAME EVOLUTION"
The very first centre created by Patrick Fournier was named “Laser Game”, and very soon many players wanted to set up a Laser Game in their city. Thus, we realised that there was a potential market to tap into.
It was in 1999, with the V1 generation of the equipment, that we could meet this demand. These were the beginnings of the “Laser Game” brand, which helped us open 4 to 5 new centres near Grenoble.
To continue our development, we chose to create a brand licence. Thanks to this licence, we were able to expand very quickly by providing the necessary equipment to the new centres and training them. It was an instant success! Our customers, operators and players, were all happy.
In order to be different from our competitors, we needed to stand apart. Thus, “Laser Game” became “Laser Game Evolution” and our brand was born. The choice of the word “Evolution” was quite clear because we had been “evolving” since the beginning, both, in terms of methods as well as equipment. It was a word that resonated the most with our values.
